This Green Smoothie with Avocado packs tons of health benefits into one delicious drink. Blended fruits and veggies provide an excellent source of nutrition that's easily digestible, and the avocado is a decadent source of healthy unsaturated fats. Plus, the ground flaxseed is a great way to get those omega 3's. During a flare-up, peel the cucumber and apple, and consider limiting the spinach.

Yields: 4 servings              


  • 1 each avocado, peeled and pit removed, chopped
  • 1 each English cucumber, chopped
  • 1 each green apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup spinach, washed
  • 1 cup parsley leaves
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup low-fat yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon flaxseed

Method of Preparation:

1. Combine all ingredients and puree in a blender. Add a little water if necessary to turn the mixture so it blends smooth. Drink immediately or chill.
